There's the delightful town of Dawlish just a few minutes away. A truly lovely seaside town, that is part Victorian and part Georgian.
You can walk to Dawlish from the Warren, using Brunel's sea wall.  But watch out for high tides!   Alternatively take the road from the Mount Pleasant.

Once there, look above the Georgian and Victorian facades to see a town of Devon houses tumbling down the hillside facing onto "The Lawn".  This heart of Dawlish boasts an avenue of magnificent trees, blooming flowers, exotic plants and a brook leading to the sea.
Nightime transforms "The Lawn", with "fairy lights" illuminating the brook that flows through it, this is a magical place. The Lawn is also home to Dawlish's legendary black swans

Dawlish Carnival week is usually in the middle of August.  A host of free entertainment on and around the Lawn with a nationally acclaimed Air Show.
Don't miss the Carnival Grand Procession through the winding streets - it's a hoot!
